Special Issue: Implementing Clinical Guidelines in Everyday Practice

The evidence base for effective interventions for mental health problems is  expanding at an impressive rate. In an attempt to ensure that clinical practice is guided by these findings, many government and professional bodies produce clinical guidelines for healthcare professional in an attempt to standardise care and achieve best practice across a wide range of clinical settings. However, many people will be aware of difficulties in implementing clinical guidelines in everyday practice. In this special issue we review the background to, and issues in the implementation of, clinical guidelines across a range of key common mental health problems.
