An occasional publication for the then Sport and Exercise Psychology Section.
The decision to stage a workshop on this topic was borne out of a strong feeling
that the topic of the initial athlete-consultant meeting is not well covered in the literature. There are many texts to help the consultant teach and implement intervention techniques, yet little advice is provided on how to manage the first, and probably the most important meeting.
This workshop was designed to draw together the varied experiences of those engaged in sport psychology consultation and to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and good practice.
