Understanding the Mental Health Act (1983) revised, and its relationship to the work of psychologists and others 12 July 2017 Fully understand the Mental Health Act and how it relates to your practice. This workshop will give participants a full understanding of the Mental Health Act and how it relates to their practice. The Mental Health Act 1983 revised Code of Practice came into effect in April 2015. The Code of Practice document runs to 457 pages. This workshop will guide participants through areas of the Code most likely to impact on their clinical, medico-legal, or forensic practice, and enable participants to refer quickly to the relevant sections of the Code when necessary in their work. The workshop will consider the relationship of the Mental Health Act to the Mental Capacity Act and the Carers Act. The workshop will also consider potential roles for Psychologists and others under the Mental Health Act.
